Rooted in legacy,
built for what’s next…
“We believe the next great chapter of America will be written by those we invest in today. Leaders shaped by integrity, driven by excellence, and devoted to the good of others, above themselves.”
Dirk Kempthorne spent nearly 25 years in public service — from Mayor of Boise to U.S. Senator to Governor of Idaho to U.S. Secretary of the Interior. He led with grace, integrity, and conviction, championing families, building infrastructure for generations, and standing firm on principle even when it cost him politically.
What set Dirk apart wasn’t his résumé or titles— it was his character. He had a rare gift for truly seeing people, making everyone he met feel known and valued. He believed integrity in public life is not a relic of a better era, but a choice available to anyone willing to make it.
The Kempthorne Institute exists to carry that forward — to find, form, and fuel the next generation of leaders who serve not for recognition, but for something that lasts.
Carry on the legacy…
We invite you to be a part of this legacy by becoming a Friend of the Kempthorne Institute. We will keep you informed and seek your guidance and participation in the way Dirk would want.
